Meet Our Team
Our well rounded team of craftsman carpenters, designers and apprentice's possesses a combined 50+ years of experience in building custom home improvement solutions for clients.

Owner/ Contractor
Jonas Horvath
Business during the day, family man at night! I have been passionate about carpentry and building since I was 13 years old and helped my dad build our family cabin. I've now been actively working in the industry for 12 years and have been running the company for 6! I have a Diploma in Business Management and my Red Seal Carpentry ticket. I thoroughly enjoy framing as well as finishing however I'd say my biggest strength is problem solving. I love to find unique ways to bring customers visions to life! When I am able to turn business off my focus is on my wife and kids at home! I enjoy being outside, boating, camping, dirt biking and snowmobiling. Another passion I have is giving back to my community as a member and Training Officer in the Robson Fire Department.

"As a full time mom and business owner I understand the importance of a fully effective and realistic space while maintaining your style. I am passionate in creating spaces that are functional and beautiful at the same time. Life is busy and at the end of the day you want to sit back relax, and enjoy your home and family. I am one of the behind scene faces at HCAD managing business affairs, employees relations, marketing and advertising as well as putting my diploma in Interior Design to good use. I wear many hats in the day from mom, wife, business partner, designer"

Journeyman Carpenter
Steven Winje "Win-Gee"
Winje is another well rounded guy we are lucky to have on this team! He enjoys working on quality projects and continuing to develop his skills in the trade. Especially in drywalling, painting, and interior finishings. He has been in the industry 6 years and is a ticketed Red Seal Journeyman carpenter and has completed his mud-apprenticeship and paint-apprenticeship. On his off time he is a training officer at the Robson Fire Department. He enjoys spending time with his wife, being in the outdoor and paddleboarding.

Lead Carpenter
Brian Madill
With over 40 years of industry experience Brian is the guy everyone wants working on their project. Some of his specialties are tiling, drywalling, flooring, framing and finishing. Brian is meticulous and a great teacher to the rest of our team. He is a wealth of knowledge. Brian enjoys fishing, camping and gardening on his off time. His favorite part of the job is the finishings of projects, he enjoys being kept busy!

Journeyman Carpenter
McLean Horton
McLean is our longest team member at HCAD! He has been in the industry for 6 years and has now completed his ticket and obtained his Red Seal this past year! He enjoys finishing work and the final touches on completing a project! McLean always has a smile on his face and is dedicated to his career. He is a volunteer firefighter in Salmo on his off time!

Office Administrator
Linsi Davis
Born in Saskatoon, SK, Linsi moved to Calgary in her youth before settling in beautiful Castlegar. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce and has a diverse background working in the credit union sector, KBRH, and the Government of Alberta.
In her personal time, Linsi stays busy with her two adorable little boys, as well as her dog and cat. She loves biking, hiking, running, skiing—anything that gets her outdoors!
We’re excited to have Linsi join our team in the office administration role alongside Annick. She will be managing accounts payable and receivable, coordinating schedules, performing analysis, and communicating with stakeholders. With her keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and dedication to exceptional customer service, she is a fantastic addition to our team.
Linsi chose to join HCAD because of our family-oriented values and commitment to open, realistic communication with our clients.

Carpenter
Jack Wilson
As an Equipment Operator and Carpenter’s Helper at Horvath, I contribute to all aspects of the construction phase. I joined Horvath for their family and community values.
With 30 years as a Telecom Lineman traveling Canada to install fiber optic cable, I bring valuable skills to my work. My early experience helping firemen build homes in Kelowna sparked my passion for construction.
A unique talent of mine is hitting a baseball from either side of home plate, showcasing my versatility. Outside of work, I’ve been an avid golfer since age 7 and love fixing and repurposing old items.
I’m proud to be part of the Horvath family and contribute to meaningful projects in our community.

Project Manager
Niall Hamill
As a recent transplant to the region from Golden, BC, I previously worked in the timber frame world, and before that, in the modular residential and custom residential contracting world, now finding my home at HCAD. We have a great team, and I feel fortunate to be part of it. In my spare time I also enjoy climbing, snowboarding and home improvement.
I originally attended design school right out of high school before deciding that I needed to develop another skill that would be more complex and hands on. From my experiences early on helping my dad who was an architect/builder I knew I should move into carpentry. I now bring a decade of on-site working experience, and several years within that span in roles requiring planning, relationship building and responsibility. I am passionate about the process behind everything we do.

Apprentice
Donovan Owen
With 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, Donovan is a versatile and dedicated professional who thrives on tackling new challenges. He is a jack-of-all-trades, with a particular knack for framing. His diverse experience across different construction tasks means he can adapt to any project, bringing a wealth of knowledge and skill to the table.
Outside of work, Donovan enjoys spending time with his dog Nova, playing guitar, hunting, fishing, camping, and going on road trips with his girlfriend. He’s also an avid skier and a fan of video games.

Office Admin
Annick de Goede
Annick is a new addition to the Horvath admin team. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration/Human Resource Management, which she acquired at the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam. She grew up in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 2017. Since 2019 she has been embracing the Kootenay lifestyle, when she moved to Trail, then to Castlegar in 2023. Within her work, she enjoys "tedious" tasks like studying policies and laws, networking tasks like establishing and maintaining customer/employee relations, and organizational tasks like administration and finding more efficiency within work procedures. In her free time, she likes to volunteer for various community organizations, go to hockey games with her partner/their boys, and enjoy the food/restaurant scene. She also has a deep rooted love for cheese of all kinds, which fits her cheesy personality very well. She's very excited to be a part of the Horvath team and already feels very welcome.
